Proper animal care can be provided by many different housing systems. We operate sow farms with a variety of these housing designs. Both crates and pens are able to meet the needs of breeding age female swine when managed correctly. Whether it’s pens, crates, or pasture, no one system guarantees proper animal care and welfare. Ultimately, it comes down to the animal husbandry skills of the people tasked with caring for the animals. We use tools like employee training, third party audits, and regular internal process evaluations to make sure we are giving our animals the best possible care.
